What is Warren County Flag Football?

Warren County Flag Football is a youth flag football league providing boys and girls with an opportunity to learn and play football in a fun, safe, and positive environment.

Who can participate?

The league is open to boys and girls in the eligible age levels for each division. Players do not need previous football experience to participate.

Is this a competitive league?

The league is designed to be recreational and developmental while still providing opportunities for competition, particularly in the older divisions. Our goal is to create a positive experience for every player.


Registration

When does registration open?

Registration for the 2026 Fall Season opens September 18, 2026.

When does registration close?

Registration closes October 2, 2026, or when the league reaches its registration capacity.

How much does it cost?

The 2026 Fall Season registration fee is $120 per player, with discounts available for each additional player.

What is included with registration?

Registration includes league participation, 1 team jersey, and 1 flag belt.

Can my child play if they have never played football?

Absolutely! No previous football experience is required. The league is designed to teach players the fundamentals while they have fun.

Can girls play?

Yes! Warren County Flag Football is open to boys and girls.

Can I request that my child play with a friend?

Friend and coach requests may be submitted during registration. Requests are considered when teams are formed but cannot be guaranteed.


Divisions

What are the age/grade divisions?

Pre-K, Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Introductory flag football

2nd & 3rd Grade
Fundamentals and skill development

4th & 5th Grade
Advanced skill development and competition

6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Advanced flag football and competition

Final division eligibility will be determined by the league’s registration guidelines.

How are teams created?

Players register individually and are placed on teams by the league. We will make every effort to create balanced teams based on age, grade, experience, and other appropriate factors.


Schedule

When does the season begin?

Team practices begin October 12, 2026.

Games begin the week of October 19, with the first games scheduled for October 20.

When are games played?

Games will primarily be played on weekday evenings.

The exact night and game time will depend on the player’s division and final league schedule.

How often does my child play?

Teams will typically have one game per week.

Are there separate practices?

The league is designed around a one-night-a-week commitment. Teams will have a short practice/warm-up period before their scheduled game rather than requiring a separate practice night.

Are there activities during Fall Break?

No.

There will be no league activities October 4–10 due to Fall Break.

When does the season end?

The regular season concludes with the final week of games, followed by the Warren County Flag Football Championship Festival on November 21, 2026.


Game Information

How long are games?

Games are expected to last approximately 45–60 minutes.

How many players are on the field?

The league is planned around 5-on-5 flag football.

How many players are on a team?

Teams are expected to have approximately 8 players, depending on registration numbers.

Does everyone get to play?

Yes. Warren County Flag Football is designed to provide meaningful playing opportunities for every player.

What should my child bring to games?

Players should bring:

  • Athletic clothing
  • Cleats or athletic shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Flag belt- provided by the league
  • Positive attitude!

Are helmets or shoulder pads required?

No. This is flag football, not tackle football. Players do not wear helmets or shoulder pads.


Coaches

Does my child need to have a parent coach?

No. The league will recruit and assign coaches to teams.

Can I volunteer to coach?

Yes! We are always looking for positive adults who want to help kids learn and enjoy the game.

Do coaches have to pass a background check?

Yes. All league coaches must complete the required WCPRD background screening and league requirements.


Weather & Safety

What happens if it rains?

Games may be delayed, canceled, or rescheduled when weather or field conditions are unsafe.

What happens if there is lightning?

Player and spectator safety comes first. Games will be suspended or canceled when necessary based on the league’s weather policy.

Who decides whether games are canceled?

The league will make weather and field-condition decisions and communicate changes to families as quickly as possible.

What safety measures are in place?

The league will have established procedures for injuries, severe weather, emergency situations, and player safety. Coaches and officials will receive information about league safety expectations.


Parents & Spectators

Can parents watch the games?

Absolutely! We encourage families to come out and support their players.

Can parents coach from the sideline?

Parents are encouraged to support and encourage players, but coaching instructions should come from the team’s designated coaches.

What is the league’s philosophy on sportsmanship?

We expect players, coaches, officials, and spectators to treat one another with respect.


Championship

Will there be playoffs?

Playoff and championship structures will vary by division and will be announced before the season.

When is the Championship Festival?

The 2026 Championship Festival is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026.

The event will include championship games and may include skills competitions, player recognition, awards, and other activities.
